Bottomz-Up, Zippo!
Zippo Manufacturing has put its zaniest foot forward with the release of the Bottomz-Up lighter. The new model ($29.95 suggested retail) has the famous Zippo “bottom stamp,” consisting of the Zippo logo and letters and digits signifying the month and year of manufacture, not only on the bottom of the lighter but on the top as well. The face of the lighter is designed with the lighter’s name in a style evocative of playing cards.
This new design shows off the power of this stamp, which the manufacturer says has spawned urban legends about criminals and quality. “Every once in awhile, we like to have a little fun with the design of our world-famous lighter,” said Mark Paup, the vice president of sales and marketing, showing that there’s no wrong way to hold a Zippo.
