HBI’s New Juicy Rolling Paper, Blunt Wrappers

HBI International has added new flavors to both their category-leading Juicy Jays flavored cigarette rolling papers and their Juicy brand of flavored blunt wrappers. Juicy Jays Grape is the result of an intensive search by HBI to find the perfect grape flavored paper, culminating in a consumer test of the three finalists, which led to the final choice.

Juicy’s new blunt wrapper flavors are Red Raspberry, described as “delicious and sweet,” and classic Lychee. Lychee is a type of fruit native to southern Asia, with flavor similar to a cross between a pear and grape. With the launch of this flavor - which has become increasingly popular in most American urban areas - Juicy becomes the first tobacco company to launch a Lychee flavored tobacco product, and the company believes that exotic flavors will be the market’s next big trend.

New Packaging for Crown David’s Delicioso

Crown David International will introduce new box packaging for its Delicioso line of flavored cigars at the Retail Tobacco Dealers of America trade show in July.

“As part of Crown David’s developing quality product, we are currently improving the packaging of our Delicioso cigars,” says owner Yaniv Levy, noting that the company has increased production in response to sales increases for its Delicioso brand. Crown David will be adding a new apple flavor to the existing Delicioso line, which includes vanilla, chocolate, cinnamon, rum, and cherry. Delicioso cigars will still use only natural ingredients, long filler, and Connecticut Shade wrappers.

With the growing lineup of flavors and the brand’s nine sizes, Levy decided the current packaging, in 8-9-8 boxes, took up too much shelf space, and a clever, space-saving solution was needed. “We didn’t want just a simple tray for our Delicioso,” Levy says. Instead, a new double flip-top box allows twice as many boxes to fit in the same space as the previous 8-9-8 format.

Big 6 x 60 Size Added to Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Line

Fans of the powerful, full-flavored Joya de Nicaragua Antaño 1970 premium cigar will soon have even more of it to love. SAG imports, Inc., the brand’s distributor, has announced a very large addition to the Estelí, Nicaragua-produced brand - the new Magnum 660 frontmark, a 6 x 60 cigar with a tapered head similar to that of another cigar in the line, the Gran Consul.

The blend is a Nicaraguan puro, with Criollo 98 ligero wrapper and Havana-seed filler and binder. The tapered head allows for a comfortable smoke in the large ring gauge. The Magnum 660 carries an suggested retail price of $7.25 and comes in boxes of 20 cigars.

Felipe Gregorio Marks 15th Anniversary with Felipe Power

“I wanted to celebrate Felipe Gregorio’s 15th anniversary with a premium cigar like nothing the market has seen,” reports Philip Wynne, company founder and president. “Our new Felipe Power-achieves this, with its exclusive Costa Rican wrapper tobacco, derived from ‘ancestral’ pre-Embargo Cuban seed. The Felipe Power’s filler consists of Nicaraguan and Piloto Cubano tobaccos, triple-fermented and aged a full 12 years. The binder is an aged Nicaraguan Habana 92 leaf. The cigars, described as full-bodied with a velvet-smooth finish, are hand crafted in the Dominican Republic and aged in cedar for three months.

Felipe Power is offered in Double Corona (7 1/2 x 50), “Full Power” (6 x 60), “Triple R” (5 1/2 x 55), No. II (6 x 54 Torpedo), “Special R” (5 x 52), and Petite Torpedo (4 1/2 x 50). Suggested retail prices ranges from $7 to $12. The cigars are presented in cedar boxes of 26 that include a tray.

Natural American Spirit Introduces New Shelf Display

Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company has rolled out a spring-loaded shelf unit as the newest pack display for its Natural American Spirit line of premium cigarettes. The unit displays the bold Natural American Spirit flagship blue graphics and features a semicircular reveal that allows full visibility of the brand logo on each pack of cigarettes.

The easy-loading, injection-molded display holds four full cartons while offering multiple placement options. It fits easily over a counter edge, on a shelving fixture, or on a back bar. Its front graphic panel is 21/2" high by 95/8" wide, and the unit is 101/2" deep. Like all other Natural American Spirit point-of- sale materials, the new display unit is offered free to qualified retailers and distributors.
