Camel Extends Line With Turkish Gold
R.J. Reynolds has introduced a new variation of Camel's Turkish and domestic tobacco blend - a new brand style called Turkish Gold that is being marketed as "more flavorful" than competing brands.

Turkish tobacco, used in all Camel cigarette styles, is considered the smoothest, and most aromatic tobacco in the world. It imparts what Reynolds describes as a "smooth and mellow" flavor in the new blend. Turkish Gold will be offered in both hard packs and cartons. All retail materials for Turkish Gold reflect the exotic imagery of the Camel brand, featuring the familiar desert village scene and the camel beast icon. A floor-standing product display resembles a gold minaret. Point-of-sale materials continue to use the traditional Camel colors.

Camel cigarette's filtered styles continue their growth trend, posting share growth versus the comparable period in 1999. Camel's filter styles ended the first quarter 2000 with a retail market share of 4.9%.
